The Road Home
Leaving Maine I drove home by way of the White Mountain National Forest. I wanted to hit a couple waterfalls and some covered Bridges as we headed south. I would normally have stayed in Bennington, and I will include some pics from previous trips, but this year we stayed in Brattleboro, in order to be in close proximity to several bridges.
So, The Basin, in the White Mountains is a cool place to stop and see some falls. It’s a short hike from a parking lot right off the interstate and not far from Franconia Notch. Some cool drives with lots to see are the Kancamagus Highway, which runs between Lincoln and Conway, and the White Mountain Rd/Pinkham Notch Rd. NH16 (See Glen Ellis Falls) which runs between Gorham and Jackson (north out of Conway). If you want to plan on staying in this area overnight, you had best make reservations long before hand. It can be just as crowded as Acadia.
