I had my grandson today, so I decided to take him, and the camera, to the local nature center. Almost as soon as we got out of the car, I spotted a big white blob in a far off tree. We walked toward it and eventually realized it was a red tail hawk. A rather large fellow at that. I continued to walk closer, and eventually he took off as they usually do. However, this one landed in the field we were walking along and so I moved that way. He didn’t seem to mind too much and after a minute I figured out why. He had caught himself some breakfast.
We watched for awhile as he had his breakfast, inching closer all the while and eventually, he flew off and perched up in another tree and preened himself.
Later we ran across these guys.
The flowers aren’t ready yet and the leaves have barely begun to bud, but it shouldn’t be long now.
